(Boone County, Ky.) - One person sustained fatal injuries in a crash on Burlington Pike on Tuesday evening.

Boone County Sheriff's deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash near the area of 4065 Burlington Pike at 7:11 p.m.

Deputies say Tyler Herald, 26, of Elsmere, was traveling westbound on Burlington Pike between Green Acres Drive and Vice Lane negotiating a right-hand curve when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Herald was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second driver, Lisa Cahill, 60, of Petersburg, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital.

Speed and failure to maintain lane are believed to be a factor from Herald's vehicle. Drug or alcohol impairment is not believed to be a factor.

All occupants were confirmed to be wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
