Nearby residents had to be evacuated from the area due to a leaking propone tank.

(Aurora, Ind.) – One person was killed in an accident involving a tractor on Monday evening.
Multiple agencies, including Aurora EMS, responded to the accident on East Laughery Creek Road where they located the tractor and a propane tank leaking uncontrollably.
The operator of the tractor, who remains unidentified at this time, was killed in the accident.
Units on scene had to evacuate nearby residents and control “the very dangerous situation”.
No other injuries were reported, and the scene was controlled after several hours on the scene.
Aurora Emergency Rescue was assisted at the scene by Aurora Fire, Aurora Police, Dearborn County Coroner’s Office, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office, Rising Sun Fire, Hogan Township Fire, Hebron Fire Hazmat Team, Hebron EMA, Dearborn County Communications, and a local gas company.
First responders remind community members to call 911 and leave the area if you smell gas or see gas admitting from a tank.
