(Decatur County, Ind.) – Indiana State Police responded to an early morning fatal crash on State Road 3, north of Greensburg.

The initial investigation indicated that a 2017 GMC Acadia driven by Adam Peters, 36, of Morristown, was traveling southbound on State Road 3 near County Road 300 North. For an unknown reason, Peters’ vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound Ford box truck being driven by Jamin Gutherie, 39, North Vernon.

Investigators say the vehicles collided nearly head-on.

As a result, Peters sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Gutherie received minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Toxicology tests are pending but alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
