Due to the weather forecast, the event is being moved back a week.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Ohio County Tourism, Inc. in Rising Sun, Ind. has rescheduled their Christmas Fun in Rising Sun-A Merry Little Christmas Celebration for Saturday, December 20.

Free and open to the public, the event takes place at the Visitors Center, located at 217 N. High Street, Rising Sun, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

“The weather forecast is looking ‘frightful’. We didn’t want to put our vendors, guests, board members and staff in harm’s way by trying to host the event on its original date,” said Kendal Miller, executive director of Ohio County Tourism, Inc.

Along with the annual Santa visit, Miller said that Ohio County Tourism will provide free carriage rides, the Boots & Mini Moo’s, arts & crafts vendors, and free hot chocolate & sugar cookies while supplies last. A food truck will also be on hand for guests to purchase dinner.

The Merry Little Christmas Celebration festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. when Santa arrives at the festively decorated Visitors Center. He’ll be available to visit with guests until 7:00 p.m. Also scheduled are free carriage rides from Royal Carriages and visits with the Boots N’ Mini Moo’s. A wooden tree decorating Make-it Take it craft will also take place while supplies last.

Area vendors will be selling arts & crafts and bakery items in tourism’s chalets and under the large pavilion. Miller invites guests to arrive hungry and purchase their dinner from The House of Brisket. Picnic tables will be available to dine outdoors surrounded by the thousands of Christmas lights and a variety of holiday displays.

Served up by the JAM Real Estate Group-Keller Williams Realty Services team, free hot chocolate, coffee and sugar cookies will be available while supplies last.

The Christmas Fun in Rising Sun-A Merry Little Christmas Celebration is presented by Ohio County Tourism, Inc. and sponsored in part from an Arts Project Support Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission and the Columbus Area Arts Council-Region 9. The award was provided to Tourism for a
series of art-associated events through June 30, 2026.
