Property owners should report structural damage immediately.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - In the wake of the severe storms and tornadoes that impacted southeastern Indiana on Thursday, June 18, Ohio County Assessor Deedee Brown is urging affected property owners to report structural damage immediately.
The Ohio County Assessor’s Office is actively seeking information from anyone whose homes, barns, commercial buildings, or other structures sustained damage during the severe weather event. Local officials require these structural assessments to accurately review property conditions.
Depending on the severity of the documented damage, property owners may be eligible for adjustments to their real estate taxes due and payable in 2027.
Residents can report damage using two methods:
- By Phone: Call the Assessor's Office directly at 812-438-3264.
- In Person: Visit the office inside the Ohio County Courthouse at 413 Main St, Rising Sun, IN.
Hours of Operation: The Assessor's Office is open to the public during regular courthouse hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:15 PM
- Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday: CLOSED
Property owners are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible to ensure their structures are documented for the upcoming tax review cycle.
