OCCF Awards Community Grants to 12 Non-Profits

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation awarded a total of $43,242 in Community Grants to 12 local non-profits during the first grant cycle of 2025.

Each organization could request up to $5,000.

The following grants were funded through Ohio County Today & Tomorrow Endowment Fund, created by the City of Rising Sun and Ohio County, to fund the pressing needs in Ohio County. 

  • Ohio County Public Library has been awarded $2,000 for a new table and chairs.
  • Phi Beta Psi Sorority has been awarded $1,000 towards the implementation of their 2025 Fall Card Party fundraiser.
  • People Helping People, Inc. has been awarded $5,000 to purchase canned goods to be distributed from the Rising Sun Christian Outreach Food Pantry to help feed the less fortunate throughout the year and towards support for the Ohio County Services from the Heart program.
  • Ohio County Tourism has been awarded $5,000 to provide entertainment for the 2025 Rising Sun Stars & Stripes Celebration on July 5, 2025.
  • Voices of Indiana has been awarded $1,250 to provide scholarships for Ohio County students to participate in the Young Voices program.
  • Dearborn County Clearinghouse has been awarded $5,000 to restock their pantry and mobile pantry supplies available to Ohio County residents.
  • Ohio County Rescue Service has been awarded $2,600 for the purchase of LUCAS replacement batteries.
  • Ohio County Soil & Water Conservation has been awarded $4,828 for the purchase of a utility trailer, winch and battery for the winch to be able to rent out equipment to the community.
  • City of Rising Sun has been awarded $5,000 to purchase a phone system upgrade.
  • Lifetime Resources/Catch-A-Ride has been awarded $5,000 to help with the purchase of a replacement vehicle.
  • Southeastern Indiana Independent Living Center has been awarded $1,564 to purchase community marketing outreach supplies.
  • Rising Sun Ohio County School Corporation has been awarded $5,000 for the purchase of new Smart Boards.

Donations to help grow an endowment fund established within the Ohio County Community Foundation can be made in memory or honor of a loved and are tax-deductible in most cases.
