OCCF Awards 2026 Teachers’ Classroom Tools Grants

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation recently awarded $8,568.76 in Teachers’ Classroom Tools Grants to several teachers in the Rising-Sun Ohio County School Corporation.

The program provides grants to Rising Sun-Ohio County School Corporation teachers to purchase teaching tools, supplies or fund trips that enhance projects, programs and curriculum in the classroom.

Each teacher may request up to $1,000. The references of RSHS and OCEMS are for Rising Sun High School and Ohio County Elementary Middle School.

The following teachers were awarded a grant:

  • Jana McKinley, RSHS, awarded $236.86 to purchase sensory and movement area room update items. 
  • Andrea Levi, RSHS, awarded $997.47 to purchase lab equipment.
  • Elinor Kelnhofer, RSHS, awarded $916.88 to purchase classroom kitchen color organization items.
  • Ginger Meyers, OCEMS, awarded $1,000.00 to purchase Social Studies classroom needs.
  • Britney White, OCEMS, awarded $1,000.00 to purchase lab equipment.
  • Chandra Phillips, OCEMS, awarded $459.90 to purchase phonics & word work.
  • Lindsey Merica, RSHS, awarded $650.00 for the purchase of novels.
  • Carrie Lozier, OCEMS, awarded $286.67 to purchase math manipulatives.
  • Abbey Berkley, OCEMS, awarded $299.88 to purchase several online learning tools.
  • Julie Wilson, OCEMS, awarded $732.30 to purchase reading curriculum supplies.
  • Hannah Ozbun, OCEMS, awarded $500.00 to purchase Ari Interactive Robots Entry Kits.
  • Robert Kelnhofer, RSHS, awarded $659.80 to purchase Environmental Science Course materials.
  • Tim Slayback, RSHS, awarded $829.00 to purchase a 3S Router.

The Teachers’ Classroom Tools Endowment fund is administered by the Ohio County Community Foundation. Donations may be made in honor of a current or past teacher or in memory or honor of a loved one who values education. Donations to honor your child’s teacher would make a great present from your child. Honored teachers or loved ones will be sent an acknowledgment informing them a donation has been made in their honor. Acknowledgement of a memorial will be sent to the family of the loved one.
