(Kokomo, Ind.) - Indiana Governor Mike Pence toured the destruction left by Sunday's severe weather.

On Monday, the governor made stops in Lebanon as well as Kokomo and Washington. He made his way to each storm-ravaged community by Indiana State Police helicopter.

“I am even more grateful and more astonished that there was no loss of life in the state of Indiana,” Pence said after viewing the storm damage.

Pence added that the first step toward recovery is assessing damage. Next will come the process of identifying what state and federal resources will be available to assist families and communities with restoration, he said.

According to preliminary National Weather Service reports, at least 15 tornadoes may have touched down across Indiana. The strongest to be determined so far was an EF-3 near Lafayette.

The weather service confirmed two twisters in Lebanon. One was an EF-2 that touched down in Lebanon then headed towards Tipton. The second was an EF-1 tornado ripped a path seven miles northeast of Lebanon.

Kokomo was hit by two EF-2 twisters, one of them remaining on the ground for 10 miles. The tornado that did damage in Washington was also an EF-2.

Other Indiana tornadoes Sunday included a 19-mile EF-2 that tore across Knox County and a 12-mile EF-2 in Grant County. Two other tornadoes of undetermined strength were spotted in Covington and in Montgomery and Tippecanoe counties.

In Kentucky, there were eight reported tornadoes on Sunday, mostly in the state’s western half.
