New Report Shows Economic Impact of Initial READI Funding

The report includes summaries of READI impacts for each of Indiana’s regions.

INDIANAPOLIS - Governor Mike Braun has announced that the first round of funding from the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) created an estimated economic impact across Indiana of more than $675 million.

In Southeast Indiana, 78 percent of the region's allocated funding has been expended as of January 6, 2026.

The analysis reveals that disbursed READI state funds in the Southeast region generated over $15 million in total regional economic output. This impact included over $5 million in estimated labor income. From disbursed funds, READI projects in this region supported an estimated 97 regional jobs, including 74 direct jobs and 23 indirect and induced jobs

The report’s estimates reflect state-funded project spending prior to January 6, 2026 — which includes 405 projects representing nearly $400 million in READI grant awards.

In 2021, the Indiana General Assembly launched the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) with a $500 million appropriation to fund place-based, quality-of-life, and economic development projects in 17 regions representing all 92 counties of Indiana. In its first phase, READI 1.0, 416 projects were approved across the state, focusing on three key areas: quality of life, quality of place, and quality of opportunity.
