New Horizons Seeks COVID-19 Donation

New Horizons is looking for monetary donations and cleaning supplies to ensure a safe reopening.

(Batesville, Ind.)  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many local businesses had to make sacrifices in order to protect staff and clients.

New Horizons Rehabilitation, Inc. was one of these businesses.

"At the end of March, we had to make the decision to suspend operations to protect the lives of our clients and staff. While we were able to continue services with our residential care and provide limited services in Community Connections and our Pre-ETS programs, we did so with the utmost care. Thankfully, to date, there have been no cases of COVID-19 in any of our programs," says a letter to the public from New Horizons.

While being anxious to reopen, all the necessary precautions need to be met in order to protect the health and well-being of everyone.

In order to meet the needs to reopen, donations are crucial.

"While it has been hard to find the necessary supplies, we are very thankful for the organizations and individuals in our community that have stepped up to assist us in our time of need," says New Horizons.

Local organizations have stepped up to help New Horizons with donations, including Proximo and MGPI for hand sanitizer, Franklin County 4-H and staff for making cloth masks, donations from families of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, soap, and gift cards to Kroger for purchase of supplies or to help clients.

Additionally, the Ripley County Community Foundation and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati have helped with technology needs to connect with clients to maintain limited services.

While all the donations received are greatly appreciated, there is still a major need to get through this unprecedented time. With unexpected additional expenses not planned in the budget, New Horizon's is asking the community to help if able.

"We will need to purchase large amounts of laser thermometers, gloves, disinfectant, face masks, Clorox wipes to keep all of the clients and staff safe. Plus, in the event, we have a potential case in our residential program, the gowns & face shields will be needed immediately."

If you are interested in donating, visit the New Horizon website and find the "Give" tab.

Donations can be made through PayPal or by mailing a check to New Horizons, 237 Six Pine Ranch Rd, Batesville, IN 47006.

Cleaning supplies, paper towels, and disinfectant wipes can be dropped off on the bench in front of the Batesville location.
