More than $900,000 will be put to use in communities in Dearborn, Franklin, Ripley, and Switzerland counties.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The U.S. Housing and Urban Development is distributing grants nationally to support programs that are helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
The department says that more than $5 million in grants are going to Indianapolis based programs and more than $13 million is being distributed to other parts of Indiana.
Southeastern Indiana is benefiting from more than $900,000 in grants. Entities in Batesville, Lawrenceburg, and Vevay are all receiving a portion of the grant money to help local homeless.
The grants are being sent out to help those that are residing in areas that are not meant to be used for habitation, are at risk of becoming homeless, or are currently living in shelters.
