UPDATE: Two Victims Identified After Multi-Vehicle Accident On Carroll Cropper Bridge

The Carroll Cropper Bridge has since reopened.

Update posted on Tuesday, July 6th, at 3:23 p.m.:

The Boone County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two victim's involved in this morning's accident. 

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler has been identified as, Anna M. Kincart, 36, of Petersburg, Kentucky.

The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro has been identified as Brandon L. Hicks, 24, of Norwood, Ohio.

Both victim's next of kin have been notified.

 

Update posted on Monday, July 6th, 12:33 p.m.: 

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about Monday morning’s fatal accident on Interstate 275.

Deputies were first dispatched to I-275 for a single vehicle accident involving a Chevy Camaro. Following the single vehicle accident, several more collisions occurred at the same location involving a Jeep Wrangler, Chevy Trailblazer and a Ford F-150.

The drivers of the Camaro and Jeep Wrangler were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Trailblazer was transported to an area hospital with moderate, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the F-150 was not injured.

The names of those involved have not been released at this time.

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that there have been two individuals killed in the multi-vehicle accident on the Carroll Cropper Bridge. 

Motorists can exit at Petersburg.

 

Original story published on Monday, July 6th, 9:13 a.m.:

(Boone County, Ky.) - A multi-vehicle crash has closed westbound Interstate 275 near the Carroll Cropper Bridge. 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported the crash around 8:00 a.m.

Traffic is backed up beyond the Petersburg exit. Motorist should avoid the area and use an alternative route until further notice.

The crash comes on the first day of a bridge inspection project on the Carroll Cropper Bridge.
