Mineola Pike Could Expand Amid Amazon Growth

By Travis Thayer (Hebron, Ky.) - A northern Kentucky road could be in for a major upgrade. Boone County officials have proposed a $45 million project to expand Mineola Pike, which connects Interstate 275 to Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. The expansion would make Mineola Pike safer and easier to use as Amazon's presence grows in the region, reports WCPO. Earlier this year, Amazon announced a new centralized, air hub at CVG that will bring up to 2,700 new jobs – at least 600 of those full-time. The increase in jobs in the area will likely impact traffic on hilly, two-lane Mineola Pike. To date, crashes haven't been a big problem on Mineola, and planners would like to keep it that way by expanding the road. Other supporters of the proposed project say improved access to Interstate 275 is crucial for future growth. RELATED STORIES:  Amazon Cargo Hub Will Create 2,700 Jobs At CVG
