(Milan, Ind.) - The movie Hoosiers holds a special place for many local residents.
It's a movie that many have seen more times than they can count. You can add another tally to the number of times you have seen the sports classic as the Milan 1954 Museum presents a 40th Anniversary Celebration of Hoosiers, which released in 1986.
The event takes place Saturday, November 7 in the Milan High School Gymnasium and will feature a one-hour program and a screening of the movie Hoosiers. The movie, which was inspired by Milan's 1954 State Championship team holds a 90 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The website's critics consensus reads: "It may adhere to the sports underdog formula, but Hoosiers has been made with such loving craft, and features such excellent performances, that it's hard to resist."
Milan 54 Museum Board Members Ray Baurley and Noel Houze joined Eagle Country 99.3 on Tuesday morning to preview the 40th Anniversary event. The hope is to show the Director's Cut of Hoosiers at the event, which features extra scenes. If that cannot be facilitated, the publicly released version of Hoosiers will be screened.
"There are some hoops that still have to be jumped through to have that happen," said Baurley.
Two or three players from the movie are expected to be in attendance. Members of the 1954 team have also been invited to attend.
Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at The Hoosiers 40th Anniversary Celebration - Save the Date - Milan 1954 Museum
