Mutual aid was received from Delaware, Sunman Napoleon, and Dillsboro firefighters.
While some details about the fire were not released, Milan Volunteer Fire Department reported that 25 firefighters got out of bed and rushed to this emergency – where they remained on scene for almost seven hours battling the blaze and mopping up hot spots.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is unknown at this time.
However, the structure was a complete loss.
“Volunteers make the difference, not just the ones in our town but also in the communities surrounding us. We thank each and every firefighter on scene today. You made the difference today, each and every one of you,” reads a statement from Milan Volunteer Fire Department.
Milan Fire also expressed their gratitude to the Reservation Restaurant for providing much needed food and hot coffee to the crews.
