(Aurora, Ind.) – A multi-million-dollar road project is scheduled to begin next week in Aurora.
The City of Aurora announced Tuesday that a $6.5 million reconstruction of Market Street begins Monday, May 8.
Deteriorating roadway conditions, poor drainage during major weather events, and roadway safety have been a concern of the City of Aurora and Market Street residents for nearly 16 years, according to a news release.
City leaders first investigated Market Street repairs in 2007.
Paul H. Rohe Company, Inc. was awarded the project, which is expected to last up to two years. The project is being funneled through INDOT but is a federally funded project.
Market Street will be closed at times during reconstruction. Additional details are expected to be released at a later date.
The City of Aurora urges residents to stay informed by using:
- The TrafficWise App will give you continuous construction and project updates as this project moves along.
- 511in.org will post updates for Market St.
- Use INDOT’s website, or follow their Facebook and or Twitter pages as they post general information as well as road closures and updates.
- Reach out to INDOT’s customer service team to ask any questions regarding projects.
