Man Dies, Teen Injured In Motorcycle Crash Near Brookville

The wreck happened on State Road 252 on Sunday.

(Brookville, Ind.) - A man was killed and a 15-year-old girl was injured in a motorcycle crash near Brookville.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say Jeffrey Dethlefs, 51, of Cincinnati, lost control of a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle on State Road 252 near Little Cedar Road at around 2:46 p.m. Sunday, July 7. Dethlefs and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle as it went off the highway and struck an electric fence.

Dethlefs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner. Deputies said he was not wearing a helmet.

The teen was flown by Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but her condition has not been released. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, deputies said.

Other agencies working together at the scene included Franklin County EMS, Responder 24, and Brookville Volunteer Fire Department.
