(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Main Street Aurora recently received a $1,000 boost through the Dearborn Community Foundation’s Proactive Grant program.

The grant was recommended by Foundation Board Member Jan Tyler as part of the Foundation’s annual program, through which each of the organization’s 15 volunteer board members recommends a grant.

“I believe Main Street Aurora works tirelessly to create a thriving business, residential, and arts’ community,” said Tyler.

The volunteer organization finds new ways and builds on established traditions to generate interest in Aurora, she said.

“The volunteers have been very successful in their various endeavors,” said Tyler. “I’ve attended many of the events organized by Main Street Aurora.”

Main Street Aurora, a nationally accredited Main Street America™ program, is a community-driven organization dedicated to revitalizing downtown Aurora through community engagement and events, said Executive Director Nancy Turner.

“Our vision is to create a thriving business, residential, and arts community that seamlessly blends the natural beauty of the landscape with the preservation of the city’s historic heritage,” said Turner.

Since 1998, Main Street Aurora has been a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works closely with the City of Aurora.

“Our mission to revitalize downtown keeps us striving to find new ways to build interest in the city, and to create a sense of community through special events, public relations efforts, and the revitalization of Historic Downtown Aurora,” said Turner.

She asks that you join the organization to build a stronger community, and to visit aurora.in.us. for upcoming events. Main Street’s office is at 231 Main Street, Suite 103. Call 812-926-1100 to volunteer or for more information
