(Osgood, Ind.) – A group of local high school students are celebrating a great showing at the 2018 National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest.
The Ripley County Engineering Academy (RCEA) tied for second place at the 30th annual event on April 21 at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The team earned a trip to the national competition by winning the Division II Regional contest back in March.
This year, teams were tasked with creating a contraption that could pour a bowl of cereal. Each team was required to follow a 75-step process in creating their unique machines.
For placing second, the RCEA was awarded a trophy, $750 and commemorative ribbons.
The RCEA is made up of team leader Paul Thole, Rebekah Dodge, Seth Pohle, Tyler Klein, Jackson Douglas, Kara Merkel, Landon Ledford, Dylan Swinney, Jacob Simon, Alex Minch and Bradley Martini.
