Local Military Veteran To Be Honored As Reds Hometown Hero

Newmann will be honored during tonight's game at the end of the 2nd inning.

(Cincinnati, Oh.) -  A local military veteran will be honored by the Cincinnati Reds.

Cpl. Elvin A. Newmann will be the Reds Hometown Hero during tonight’s Reds and Cubs game at Great American Ball Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Newmann will be honored at the end of the second inning.

Newmann served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and was a member of the 32nd group – 430th Engineer Construction Battalion.

His military achievements include the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, Republic of Korean War Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

Aside from his military career, Newmann is a retiree from Procter & Gamble. He now serves as a vital member of the Korean War Veterans Association and the Color Guard.
