Local Artist Competing in Johnny Depp's People's Artist Contest

Voting for the current round is nearing its end.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A local artist from Dearborn County has advanced to the 5th Round of Johnny Depp's People's Artist Contest.

Ashley Harms is a local tattooist and lifelong creative. Over the years, she has completed more than 1,000 tattoos and created thousands of original artistic pieces.

"I like to create art that makes someone pause. Art that encapsulates hidden normalities that go unnoticed until someone projects them in a new light. Art is meant to make a person feel something or ponder. I love my job as a tattoo artist and I enjoy painting with acrylic, I enjoy the process of layering each gradient and hue until every detail is complete," said Harms.

Harms artistic journey was deeply influenced by her grandmother, who was a gifted painter. When she lost her grandmother in 2016 during her senior year of high school, Harms turned to art as a way to honor her memory.

The winner of Jonny Depp's People's Artist Contest will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon.

Harms is currently 4th in her group. Voting for the Top 5 ends June 4 at 7:00 PM PDT.
