(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - For the first time in over a decade, Lawrenceburg Primary School has a new principal.

Samantha Geary has assumed the role of LPS Principal following the retirement of Tammy Greive, who held the position for 16 years.

"Tammy and I, we have become fast friends," said Geary. "We get along great. She was a great mentor and still is. If I ever have a question about something she is happy for me to call and brainstorm things with me. She's just become a really close friend of mine, and I value the time we spent working together."

Geary, a 2007 South Dearborn High School graduate, has been with the Lawrenceburg School Corporation since 2023 when she was hired as the Dean of Students at Lawrenceburg Primary School.

"I am very excited. I think Lawrenceburg Community Schools is great. I absolutely love working at Lawrenceburg Primary School and to be able to lead such a fabulous school is a dream come true," Geary said.

Geary brings plenty of experience to the role. She started her career in education at St. John's Lutheran School in Aurora, where she taught 7th and 8th grade for three years. She then moved to Dillsboro Elementary school, where she taught 4th grade. Geary stayed with the South Dearborn Community School Corporation for eight years and spent one year at Milan before moving to Lawrenceburg School.

"Parents and guardians can expect that I will always put students first. We want to always make sure that students are first and we will do things the harder way if we have to, to make sure we are meeting all the students' needs. They can see true compassion and care from me, as well as all the teachers here at the school because we truly want what is best for the kids," said Geary.

Superintendent Karl Galey gave the following statement:

"We are deeply grateful for Mrs. Tammy Greive’s 16 years of caring and compassionate leadership at Lawrenceburg Primary School. Her commitment to students, staff, and families has shaped LPS into the warm, supportive, and successful school community it is today. We thank Tammy for her remarkable service and lasting impact. We are also excited to welcome Mrs. Samantha Geary into the principal role and look forward to seeing how, through her leadership, she will continue and expand the great programs and traditions that make LPS such a special place."
