Kids Discovery Factory Welcomes Three New Board Members

KDF remains committed to providing engaging, hands-on STEAM experiences for children and families.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Kids Discovery Factory is excited to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Jillian Freese, Lisa Deck, and Trisha Goldsmith. Each brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education, workforce development, and STEAM learning, strengthening the organization’s mission to inspire young minds through innovative and hands-on learning experiences.

Jillian Freese joins the board with eight years of experience in human resources. Passionate about making a positive impact in the community, Jillian believes in the power of STEAM education to enrich children's lives. She looks forward to leveraging her HR expertise to support the growth and success of Kids Discovery Factory. In addition to her professional background, she enjoys camping with her husband and three children, reading, vacationing, and staying active.

Lisa Deck brings 33 years of experience in workforce development and education. As the Education Workforce Program Manager for Purdue Polytechnic’s Indiana Next Generation Manufacturing Competitiveness Center (IN-MaC), Lisa collaborates with employers, schools, and students to develop sustainable workforce programs. She has also been an adjunct professor at Purdue University since 2009, specializing in Organizational Leadership and Technology Leadership and Innovation. With a background in manufacturing and human resources, Lisa is committed to equipping future generations with the skills they need for career success.

Trisha Goldsmith is an Educational Consultant at Sunman Dearborn Community Schools, with a distinguished career in special education. She previously served with the Ripley-Ohio-Dearborn (ROD) Special Education Cooperative and as a special education teacher at Batesville Community School Corporation. Trisha holds multiple degrees in education and administration, including a Director of Exceptional Needs license, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Special Education. She resides in Batesville with her husband and children and is eager to contribute her expertise to the Kids Discovery Factory board.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jillian, Lisa, and Trisha to our board,” said Daryl Werner, Board President. “Their diverse backgrounds and shared passion for education and workforce development will play a key role in advancing our mission. We look forward to their contributions as we continue to grow and impact children across southeastern Indiana.”
