(Jefferson County, Ind.) - This week, a Madison, Indiana man was arrested in Jefferson County, Texas on two felony charges of Stalking and misdemeanor charges of False Informing and Harassment following an investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives out of the Versailles Post.
The investigation began in October 2024 when Abel Martinez, age 37, made allegations of human trafficking against a trooper with the Indiana State Police and a police officer with the Madison Police Department. He additionally accused a judge and other public officials of assisting in human trafficking his ex-wife and children.
During the thorough investigation, it was learned that there was no basis for the allegations. The investigation also determined that he had engaged in stalking and harassment of his ex-wife over the past three years.
The investigation was turned over to the Jefferson County, Indiana Prosecutor’s Office which resulted in Martinez being charged with two felony counts of Stalking and misdemeanor counts of False Informing and Harassment.
A warrant for Abel Martinez was issued in March 2025, however his whereabouts were unknown until this week when he was arrested in Jefferson County, Texas. He will soon face extradition back to Jefferson County, Indiana where he will face an initial appearance in court.
