(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Serving and protecting has been Jason Wyatt's life work.
The lifelong Dearborn County resident has announced that he will run for Dearborn County Sheriff on the Republican ticket for the May 2026 primary.
The 51-year-old is a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, and a U.S. Army veteran, who served a combined 28 years on active duty and in the reserves as a military police officer, including combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Wyatt has also dedicated 22 years to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department, serving in the patrol division and achieving the rank of Sergeant.
"My mission is to serve the people of Dearborn County with integrity, accountability, and respect for the Constitution ensuring public safety while protecting individual rights and strengthening trust between Law Enforcement and the community. My key priority is having a community-focused policing model, seeking to strengthen relationships between deputies and residents. I want to increase visibility and positive engagement in towns and rural areas to encourage open communication and community input. My thoughts on transparency and accountability are simple; I will have clear policies and expectations for the deputies and jail officers. I will have open communication with the county officials and the public and I will be responsible with taxpayer resources," Wyatt said.
