ISP Detectives Investigating Early Morning Shooting in Brookville

Investigators say the alleged shooter and victim were siblings.

(Brookville, Ind.) – One person was killed in an early morning shooting at an apartment complex in Brookville.

Brookville Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Riverfront Apartments on Fairfield Avenue around 1:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located Ronald Pence, 32, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Immediate medical aid was provided, but the life-saving measures were unsuccessful.

The alleged shooter, Crystal Pence, 29, who was identified as the sister of the deceased, was taken into custody at the scene. She is facing a preliminary charge of felony murder.

Crystal Pence is currently held in Franklin County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
