UPDATE: Investigators ID Person Killed In Franklin Co. Barn Fire

The blaze started just after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

Update published Thursday at 5:37 a.m.:

The person killed in a Tuesday night barn fire in Franklin County has been identified.

Donald Winters, 69, was killed in the fire that occurred on Whitcomb Road near Brookville on Tuesday evening around 8:00 p.m., reports WLWT-TV.

Four others were injured in the incident, three of which were flown to area hospitals with unknown injuries. 

Investigators say the group was preparing a 4th of July fireworks display when something went wrong.

The incident remains under investigation.

(Franklin County, Ind.) – A barn fire has claimed one life and injured several others.

Multiple fire and EMS units and three medical helicopters were called to the fire on the 12000 block of Whitcomb Road on Tuesday night just after 8:00 p.m., reports WLWT-TV

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed one death and four injuries in the blaze. 

Fireworks are believed to have played a role in causing the fire. However, officials have yet to confirm that claim.

No other information has been provided at this time.
