(Greendale, Ind.) - Work has officially started on an intersection improvement project in Greendale.
Crews recently completed some preliminary work at the intersection of U.S. 50, State Road 1 (Belleview Drive) and the I-275 on-ramp.
INDOT traffic crews will be active at the U.S. 50, S.R. 1, and I-275 intersection beginning on or after Wednesday, August 13, to complete signage, striping, and signal modification work. Intermittent lane closures and flagging operations will be used while work is in progress. Crews plan to work between approximately 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for up to one day, weather permitting.
Intersection changes include the following:
- Reducing the ramp from eastbound U.S. 50 to I-275 from two lanes to one lane
- Installing an additional thru lane from southbound S.R. 1 (Belleview Drive) to I-275, resulting in two thru lanes
- Island curb reconfiguration work on U.S. 50
- Installing new pavement markings and permanent signage
These changes are anticipated to help reduce backups and delays along S.R. 1 (Belleview Drive) by allowing more capacity for the thru movement entering I-275. Signage will be placed in the area prior to the start of work.
