(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Attendance at the Indiana State Fair was not a record, but it was pretty strong.
The fair organizers say 879,857 people came through the turnstiles for the 17-day state fair in Indianapolis.
That figure is up from last year’s attendance, despite a closing weekend that was hampered by severe weather in central Indiana.
“The Indiana State Fair was particularly special this year as it chose to recognize admirable Hoosiers through its theme, ‘Heroes in the Heartland presented by Indiana Donor Network.’ The fair prides itself on providing a variety of agricultural and entertainment opportunities. This year’s fair offered more free events along with creative and signature food items that drew Hoosiers of all ages to Indiana’s greatest agricultural showcase,” the fair said in a statement announcing the attendance.
The state fair returns in 2020, running August 7-23.
To all of our Fair Friends and Families: THANK YOU for an incredible year! Being a part of your summer traditions means so much to us. We'll see you August 7-23, 2020 🎡 #indystatefair #heroesintheheartland pic.twitter.com/WLDU4AAc6r
