Human Remains Found in Franklin Co. Identified

The remains were found on June 12, 2026

(Franklin County, Ind.) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Department has been notified by the Franklin County Coroner's Office that the human remains discovered in southeastern Franklin County have been positively identified as those of Roger Paul Purcell.

Purcell was reported missing on June 21, 2024.

According to the Coroner's Office, the identification was made through the examination of medical devices associated with previous surgeries. 

The investigation remains ongoing pending additional autopsy and forensic examination results.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as appropriate for the ongoing investigation
