(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Historical Society (DCHS) is proud to continue its annual holiday tradition of partnering with a local school to decorate the Christmas tree displayed inside the glass gazebo at Newtown Park in Lawrenceburg.
Each year, the Historical Society selects a different school within Dearborn County to design and decorate the tree, fostering creativity, community spirit, and holiday cheer among local students.
Last year’s collaboration with Dillsboro Elementary School and Sunshine Corner resulted in a beautifully decorated tree that touched the hearts of all who visited. This year, the DCHS Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Central Elementary School has been chosen to carry on this cherished tradition.
The Society looks forward to working closely with Principal Staci Knigga and Art Teacher Katherine Magalski, whose students will bring their artistic talents to life in this year’s Christmas display.
“This tradition has become a meaningful way to connect with our community’s young people and celebrate the season together,” said representatives from the DCHS Board. “It’s a joy to see the creativity and pride these students bring to the project each year.”
The decorated tree will be unveiled during Light Up Newtown Park on Friday, December 6, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The event marks the start of the holiday season in Lawrenceburg and promises an evening filled with festive lights, music, and community togetherness.
The Dearborn County Historical Society extends its sincere gratitude to its major sponsors — the City of Lawrenceburg and Lawrenceburg Main Street — for their continued support in making this community event possible.
