Medical marijuana dispensaries could be selling to approved patients later this year.

(Columbus, Oh.) - There will not be any medical marijuana dispensaries opened in western Hamilton County.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy granted permits Monday to locations in Hamilton and surrounding counties where the drug would be available. Nearly 400 firms across the state submitted applications to obtain a license.
Marijuana products will be sold at two sites in Cincinnati. They Care Med Associates, LLC on Kennedy Avenue and Green RX, LLC on Vine Street. Other southwestern Ohio locations approved for selling marijuana for medical purposes are located in Columbia Township, Seven Mile, Monroe, Lebanon and Hillsboro.
The dispensaries could open this year. Ohio’s medical marijuana program is slated to debut in September.
The dispensaries will be allowed to sell to qualified, registered patients who have received recommendations from a state-approved list of doctors. The law does not allow marijuana to be smoked, but it does permit users to consume edibles, oils and vaping concentrates.
