Hamilton Co. Primary Elections

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Tuesday was primary election day in Ohio as Buckeyes went to the polls to nominate a Republican presidential nominee and other lawmakers.

Voter turnout in Hamilton County was just over 20 percent for the primary with 108,808 ballots being cast.

In the Republican primary for Statehouse District 29, incumbent Lou Blessing defeated Raj Rajagopal 63 percent to 37 percent, with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

District 29 now covers much of the western portion of Hamilton County - including Harrison, Miamitown, and Cleves - after state lawmakers redrew the legislative districts this year.

In the race for the Democrat nomination for the First U.S. House District, Malcolm Kantzler earned a narrow win over Jeff Sinnard, 51.4 to 48.6 percent.

Kantzler will face incumbent Republican Congressman  Steve Chabot in November. Chabot was unopposed in the primary.

Four school districts asked residents to pass tax levies Tuesday. Forest Hills, Wyoming, and Princeton City Schools all passed, while a levy for Mt. Healthy Schools failed.
