By Mike Perleberg (Greendale, Ind.) - A date has been set for an election recount in Greendale. Bob Bischoff defeated Bill Lansing in the May 5 primary election for the Democrat nomination for Greendale mayor by just eight votes, 451 to 443. Dearborn County Clerk of Courts Rick Probst says a recount has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8 in the commissioners meeting room at the Dearborn County Administration Building, 215 B W. High Street, in Lawrenceburg. The recount will continue until 4:30 p.m. and could reconvene the following day if necessary. Ballots from all five voting precincts in Greendale will be included in the recount. Conducting the recount will be a three-person recount commission consisting of Lonnie Walcott, Gene McCann, and Sheila Gramaglia. The commission was appointed May 28 by Dearborn Superior Court I Judge Jonathan Cleary. In requesting the recount, Lansing alleged that some Greendale Democrat voters were permitted to vote illegally while others were illegally stopped from voting. “If this occurred, it may constitute fraud or misconduct affecting the integrity of the ballot,” Lansing said in his petition filed May 19. Lansing will have to pay for the costs of the recount if it does not change the outcome of the election, Probst said previously.
