Great Parks, Cohen Recycling Announce Electronic Waste Recycling Days

Are you looking to get ride of old or unused electronics?

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - Great Parks is teaming up again with Cohen Recycling on three special electronics recycling events in which residents can drop off their old or unwanted electronics at different locations throughout Hamilton County to be recycled. 

“These events continue Great Parks’ conservation leadership by keeping tons of recyclable electronics out of our landfills and preventing hazardous e-waste from reaching our soil and water,” said Stephanie Bacher, sustainability coordinator for Great Parks.

This year’s electronics recycling dates are September 6 at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor, October 11 at Woodland Mound’s Breezy Point and November 1 at Winton Woods’ Harper Meadows. All events are on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon.

Any item with a cord or that takes a cord can be dropped off. This includes computers, cell phones, DVD players, video game systems, telephones, remote controls, batteries, laptops, tablets, fax machines, keyboards, microwaves and more. Devices with a cathode ray tube, such as box TVs, require a $10 fee to offset the cost of recycling. A full list of items that can be accepted is available at cohenusa.com.

In three e-waste events last fall, Great Parks and Cohen collected an incredible 30 tons of material from 1,001 carloads of participants at the three parks.

Great Parks and Cohen Recycling also partner on the annual Holiday Lights Recycling event, which will return again this year over the winter holidays. Last season, Great Parks collected more than 8 tons of holiday lights for recycling, representing the highest total in the 12-year history of the program.

Valid Motor Vehicle Permits are not required during event hours at the drop-off locations within Miami Whitewater Forest, Woodland Mound and Winton Woods. Information about purchasing MVPs, and accessing free or discounted MVPs, is available at greatparks.org
