Gillman Home Center Confirms Purchase Of Aurora Lumber

Press release by Gillman Home Center (Aurora, Ind.) - Gillman Home Center will soon bring the “best of both worlds” – while ensuring the long-term future of one of the region’s oldest businesses – with its purchase this week of Aurora Lumber. Founded more than 150 years ago and owned by the Petty family for more than 50 years, Aurora Lumber has long been a trusted resource in the Aurora community for lumber, hardware and specialty items for contractors and remodelers. Curtis Gillman of Gillman Home Center said the company plans to build on the valued aspects of Aurora that contributed to its success, including retaining its experienced staff, while enhancing it with Gillman’s innovative merchandise mix and competitive pricing thanks to its increased buying power. “We believe this is the best decision for the future of our business and its role in the Aurora community,” explained John Petty of Aurora Lumber. “It ensures Aurora Lumber will remain an important resource. Just as importantly, our employees can continue to provide outstanding service and support to our customers. We look forward to this new chapter in our company’s story with Gillman Home Center.” Located in Batesville, Indiana, Gillman Home Center is a full-service hardware and lumber dealer with nine locations in Batesville, Brookville, Centerville, Connersville, Edinburgh, New Castle and Winchester, as well as Eaton and Oxford in Ohio. Gillman was founded in 1980 by Charlie Gillman, a second-generation homebuilder who still runs the company today, along with his sons and approximately 200 other team members. Curtis Gillman says Gillman Home Center will begin making strategic updates to Aurora Lumber immediately, expanding its product selection and initiating store enhancements inside and out. The company will eventually transition to the Gillman Home Centers name and brand identity. “This really will be the best of both worlds for Aurora Lumber’s customers and employees,” Gillman said. “We are excited about combining the aspects that have made Aurora a successful business for more than 150 years with the unique benefits of Gillman Home Center and creating an outstanding new lumber and home improvement resource for the community.”
