A total of $56,000 was awarded to Rising Sun High School graduates during the 2026 process.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Future Generations Scholarship was established by the City of Rising Sun through the Ohio County Community Foundation (OCCF). Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to Rising Sun High School graduates as they pursue higher education at a four-year college or university. The scholarship offers students the opportunity to earn financial support during high school while making a positive impact through volunteer service benefitting Ohio County community.

This year marks the 20-year milestone of the scholarship program. In that time, students have contributed over 31,000 hours of community service, strengthening organizations serving Ohio County. In recognition of their commitment, they have received more than $1.3 million in scholarships, demonstrating how service and educational opportunity continue to reinforce one another.

Students at Rising Sun High School are required to complete OCCF-approved community service hours before the scholarship application deadline of their Senior year. These hours are just one of the scholarship eligibility requirements, and the total number of hours varies by each graduation class.

A full list of approved community service organizations, along with the required reporting form, is available on the Ohio County Community Foundation website: occfrisingsun.com.
