(Washington, D.C.) – Former Indiana First Lady Susan Bayh is recovering from brain surgery to remove a tumor.

The Bayh family released a statement yesterday that explained she underwent surgery to remove a malignant glioblastoma. That's the same kind of tumor that U.S. Senator John McCain is battling.

“After a period of recuperation from surgery, Susan will begin chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She will fight this disease with the same courage, grace, and optimism that have always characterized her. We ask for your prayers for Susan as she fights this fight,” Evan Bayh said in a statement.

This is Susan Bayh's second battle with brain cancer. She had surgery in 2015 to remove a tumor then as well.
