Dearborn County Sheriff's Office (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Five Dearborn County Jail inmates are accused of a brutal jailhouse attack on another inmate. The victim, Kenneth Rodmaker, was cornered in a jail cell by five inmates who then ganged up in hitting and kicking him on July 8, according to a probable cause affidavit filed July 15 in Dearborn Superior Court I by sheriff’s office investigators. The five alleged attackers have been identified as Christopher Spain, Joshua Deckard, Michael Craven, Collin Tenhundfeld, and Billy Luke. Jail officers and investigators used surveillance footage to determine that the five allegedly laid in wait for Rodmaker to enter the cell where he was physically attacked with closed fists multiple times on his face and head. The attack caused Rodmaker to go in and out of consciousness, he told jailers. He was taken to Dearborn County Hospital where he received stitches for his injuries. Investigators noted bruises and swelling on his jaw and face. All five of the suspects in the attack refused to answer investigators’ questions, according to the affidavit. They are each charged with Criminal Confinement Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 3 felony), Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Confinement Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 3 felony), Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 5 felony), and Conspiracy to Commit Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 5 felony).
