(Greensburg, Ind.) – CR-V sport utility vehicles are now rolling off the assembly line at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. Production of the 2017 CR-V began Wednesday at the plan in Greensburg. It is the first SUV to be assembled there since the plant opened in 2008. Last March, Honda announced a $52 million investment at its Indiana plant to help meet growing consumer demand for the CR-V. The company shifted production from a plant in Guadalajara, Mexico. HMIN will continue to produce the Honda Civic Sedan. “We are leveraging the manufacturing flexibility of our experienced Indiana associates to meet the needs of our customers,” said Bob Nelson, president of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. “With the CR-V and Civic, we are really proud to build two of America’s best-selling vehicles in Indiana.” The new production line also adds 100 new jobs to the factory’s 2,400-person workforce. The 2017 CR-V is the fifth generation of the best-selling SUV in America over the past 20 years. Nearly 4 million of them have been sold since introduction in 1997.
