Lawrenceburg Fire Department had to respond to smoke in the building at Steak 'N' Shake twice on Wednesday.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg Fire Department responded to a local restaurant twice in the same day.
Firefighters were called out to Steak ‘N’ Shake on U.S. 50 Wednesday, January 23. According to fire chief Johnnie Tremain, they arrived and were told by the manager that smoke was coming from the restaurant’s ventilation system.
The restaurant was evacuated. The HVAC units were remotely shut down and crews investigated on the roof, finding no apparent problems.
Later in the day, the fire department was again summoned to Steak ‘N’ Shake for smoke in the building. This time, they were able to isolate the problem by shutting down the affected HVAC unit.
