(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – It was a storybook ending at Ivy Tech Community College’s Monster Mash 5K.

On Saturday morning, Bryan Wagner won the overall race with a time of 18:03, while his 11-year-old daughter, Beckett, won the female race with a time of 24:21.

Bryan Wagner had previously won the Monster Mash Dash 5K, but Saturday’s win was extra special.

“This is amazing. It’s been a long time coming. I told her this is the first of many more, hopefully,” said Wagner.

Beckett tells Eagle Country 99.3 she expects to be able to beat her dad in a 5K within three years.

She has already had great success in her age group. Earlier this year, nine St. Lawrence runners competed at the State Championship. The girls team took third place overall with Beckett being the top individual runner at 20th out of nearly 300 runners.

This Sunday, it will be dad’s turn to put on the running shoes, as Bryan is set to run in the New York City Marathon.
