The Boone County Sheriff's Office says alcohol and speed may have been factors.

The motorist killed in a crash in Burlington early Friday morning has been identified as a Lawrenceburg man.
Joseph Sohmer, 36, was westbound on Burlington Pike near the intersection with Aero Parkway around 2:21 a.m. when his 2008 Jaguar S type collided with semi-tractor trailer driven by Stanley Prather, 53, of Hamilton, Ohio.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Sohmer disregarded a red light and t-boned the semi-trailer. Sohmer’s vehicle continued underneath the trailer before exiting the roadway into a nearby grass embankment.
Sohmer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Prather was not injured in the crash.
Deputies suspect alcohol and speed are factors in the collision. No charges have been filed at this time.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
