(Noblesville, Ind.) - The 97th Indiana FFA State Convention was recently held at the Riverview Health Arena at Innovation Mile in Noblesville.
East Central and Switzerland County FFA were among the teams from across the state that competed with other chapters from around the state.
East Central FFA earned one of the top honors, being recognized as a Top 10 Chapter.
EC members also participating in LDE’s, getting recognized for proficiencies and CDE’s. Awards given were:
- 1st Place Nursery Landscape Team
- 2nd Place Nursery Landscape Team
- 2nd Place Wildlife Habitat Team
- 1st Place Agricultural Sales Proficiency- Jared Enda
- 2nd Place Specialty Animal Production Proficiency - Cambryn Botts
- Top Ten Chapter Donor Award
- 4th Place Employment Skills LDE - Tyler Stenger
- 2nd Place Freshman Prepared Public Speaking LDE - Reagan Whitehead
- Megan Lutz also competed in the Ag Sales Presentation LDE competition on Monday

Switzerland County had two state winning projects.
- Lainie McAlister and Grant Hall: Their research report and interview on The Impact of Social Media Presence on the Livestock Marketing Industry secured their first-place win.
- Kay Howard and Isabella Lieland: Their research on People’s Preference on buying groceries, Farmers Markets or Grocery Stores will also be moving on to the first round of the nationals contest this summer.
Other Switzerland County FFA highlights include:
- Emma Justice being newly elected as Indiana FFA District XVI Secretary
- Switzerland County's Agricultural Communications Team finished as the state runner-up. Lainie McAlister, Payton Stow, Emma Justice and Taylor Kappes made up the team.
- Emma Justice placed 3rd in the state Agriculture, Farm, and Business Management Demonstration
