EC FFA Competes in Area 1 Livestock Skillathon

Ten East Central FFA members performed well at the skillathon.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - Ten East Central FFA members competed in the Area 1 Livestock Skillathon CDE on Wednesday, September 7 at South Ripley High School.

Members completed skill assessment in several areas including; breed, feed, livestock equipment, and retail meat cut identification. They also completed a general knowledge exam as well as a quality assurance assessment.

The top team for East Central placed 8th. This team consisted of Bradley Kolb, Kody Schilling and Lydia Kidd. The team of Zoey Eicher, Izzy Robben and Julie Rider placed 16th. The junior high team of Gus Loschiavo, Noah Lewis, Cambryn Botts and Ella Lostutter finished 3rd in the junior division.

Agricultural Structures, Fabrication and Design Students Build Workbenches

Students in Mr. Johnson’s Agricultural Structures, Fabrication and Design students are building 20, 8 foot long workbenches to sell to the general public. Students are gaining valuable experience in mass producing a quality built product on a large scale. Profits made from the project will be used to purchase additional materials for student projects and to buy some additional new tools for the program.
