East Central FFA Wins State Competition

The winning team will represent Indiana at the National FFA Convention in October.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - The East Central Nursery/Landscape teams spent Saturday, April 27 competing in the Indiana FFA State Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event.

The contest was held at the Central 9 Career Center in Greenwood.

Contestants had to complete a general knowledge exam, plant, pest, and equipment identification, landscape estimating practicum, plant propagation practicum, and a team activity.

The team of Alicia Rosemeyer, Alex Dudley, Rachel Kraus and Amelia Hartman won first overall and the state title, which is East Central's sixth state win in the event. The four will represent Indiana at the National FFA Convention on October 30-31 in Indianapolis. 

East Central had three other teams place at the event. 

Austin Schneider, Grant Wright, Travis Foote and Anna Loschiavo placed third. The team of Alex Newport, Keegan Riesenbeck, Grace Kraus and Erica Kathman placed fourth, and the combination of Gage Crone, Faith Fox, Ryann Griffin, and Jared Callahan placed sixth.
