(Greendale, Ind.) – An alleged drunk driving accident on U.S. 50 early Wednesday morning in Greendale has one man in jail and another in the hospital.
Greendale Police responded to the crash at about 12:45 a.m. on U.S. 50 between the Lawrenceburg Vet Clinic and Horshoe campground east of the Interstate 275 underpass.
Sgt. Kevin Turner said it appeared a white 2012 Mazada 3 driven by Brandon Phillips, 30, of Hamilton, Ohio had crashed into the rear of a 2012 Honda Civic driven by David Kemp, 40, of Warren, Michigan.
The impact sent Kemp’s vehicle approximately 25 feet over an embankment and into trees.
Kemp suffered non-life threatening injuries and was able to make it out of his vehicle to the roadway to summon help, Turner said. He was taken to Dearborn County Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital.
Both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Phillips was arrested by Greendale Police for Operating While Intoxicated-endangering a person (Class A misdemeanor), Operating with a BAC over .15 (Class A misdemeanor), and cited for Speed Too Fast to Avoid a Collision. He is being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
