The new playground replaces the old metal equipment that had been in place since 1953.

(Dillsboro, Ind.) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony has been scheduled at Dillsboro Elementary School’s newly installed playground.
Students, staff, and PTO representatives from Dillsboro Elementary will host the ceremony on Friday, August 18 at 1:30 p.m. behind the school.
In addition to unveiling the new playground equipment, Dillsboro Elementary School principal Kyle Miller will kiss a pig.
The new playground replaced the old metal equipment that had been in place since 1953. The DES PTO began seeking bids on new equipment in early 2020. Due to the pandemic, supply chain issues and the price of equipment doubled, halting the process.
The PTO tried again to pursue the purchase of new equipment in November 2022 and three proposals for the site were offered in January of this year. The bid was awarded to Nick Sanchez of Midstate Recreation in February.
In addition to saving funds for several years to purchase the new equipment, the DES PTO was aided by the Dillsboro Civic Club, Friendship State Bank, Aurora Lions Club, and other donors.
“The DES PTO is grateful to everyone who contributed to this project, making it possible to provide a safer place for our kids to play.”
