(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to Sunman Rural Fire Department.

In its 26th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2024 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

DCF Board member Jim Stock, New Alsace, recommended the grant because he’s seen the great job the volunteers at Sunman Rural Fire Department do as the primary fire service provider for a significant portion of Northwestern Dearborn County.

“They serve Northern Dearborn County very well,” said Stock. “I wanted to show my appreciation by recommending this grant to help with what the fire department needs to continue this wonderful service to the community.”
