(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lifelong Manchester Township resident and Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF) Board member Bridget Davidson said she chose Manchester Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue for a $1,000 Proactive Grant to give back to her community.

In a continuing effort to make an impact in Dearborn County, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2022 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer board members recommends a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

"Being a lifelong resident of Manchester Township, I have witnessed the fire department's commitment to our community," said Davidson. "Whether it's responding to an emergency call anytime of the day or night, leading the opening day parade for the Manchester Athletic Association, or feeding the community with their annual chicken dinner, the amount of time and dedication these volunteers put into their community does not go unnoticed."

The money will be used to buy supplies for the department's recently purchased second ambulance, said Chief Kevin Havlin.

“Unexpected grants like this one from the Dearborn Community Foundation are great to alleviate the cost increases that we face these days," he said.

Anyone can contribute to an unrestricted endowment at DCF and help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending in 2022.
